1) The Mission:
The mission of Recycle Pots and Pans is to provide cooking tools to those in need through the recycling and re-distribution of commonly used kitchen items. The goal is to recycle and share tools needed for the easy preparation of meals enjoyed at the family table such as pots, pans, plates, tableware, measuring cups and small kitchen appliances.
2) Why is this important?
Studies show that when kids eat meals with their families, they’re more likely to have healthy body weights and perform better in school. The role of Recycle Pots and Pans is to help families eat together and do something “green” by recycling at the same time.
Our local food banks are doing a heroic job providing more food to those in need, but often these homes lack the tools used to prepare and enjoy the food distributed: pots, pans, plates, cutting boards, etc. The organization, Recycle Pots and Pans, was created to address this need.
3) The Goal:
Recycle Pots and Pans collects items for recycling and redistribution to those in need by encouraging folks to help us collect, recycle and re-use commonly used kitchen items.
Please help us to keep moving forward by donating or volunteering. Are you, or is someone you know, an empty-nester? Transitioning to a smaller home or assisted living? Settling an estate? Life changes can allow you to identify a surplus of stuff that others can use. Clean out your cupboards, shop garage sales, and ask your friends to do the same! We will gladly pick up multiple items from homes and restaurants. We are committed to sustainability; our goal is zero waste. If we can’t use something that is donated, we recycle it or give it to another charitable organization that can.
4) Who we serve:
Since the creation of our Ohio based non-profit, Recycle Pots and Pans has been serving those in need through various social service agencies. To date, we have provided 130 families in need with complete kitchen sets.
In addition, Recycle Pots and Pans has attended area Farmers Market on WIC nights to distribute kitchen items free of charge to families in need, as well as assisting victims of emergencies such as fire or flood. Our goal is to establish donation and distribution sites in specific geographic areas as demographically appropriate.
5) How is the organization funded?
To date the organization has been funded by individual donations from the Board of Directors, earned income from product sales and our dedicated community members and volunteers who believe in the mission of Recycle Pots and Pans.
6) Who Manages Recycle Pots and Pans?
Pots and Pans is a volunteer organization guided by the Officers of the Board of Directors. The organizational and administrative tasks are divided among board members by expertise and interest. Committees of the board are formed when needed and appropriate. We would be delighted for you to meet our board in person and share our collective vision with you for community service through Recycle Pots and Pans.
7) What is the legal status of the Recycle Pots and Pans?
